James Dwyer is a comedian, writer and actor living in Brooklyn.
James has been honing his craft as a comic and writer in NYC and LA for the past decade. His most recent projects include the monthly leftist comedy zine, Functionally Dead, of which he is a co-founder and editor, as well as Stinkers, a podcast he cohosts with Caroline Cotter and Maggie Widdoes where they bring on a guest each week to discuss their biggest stinkers aka the worst ideas they've ever had.
Previously James wrote and hosted shows for UCB Comedy and at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, most notably the long-running monthly show A Big Dumb Thing with his co-host and writing partner Jackie Jennings. That show spawned the 2018 mockumentary short From One Guy to Another about two fame-obsessed weirdos (the real life James and Jackie) as they desperately aim for their own viral moment by eating at two Guy Fieri restaurants in two different countries in 24 hours. From One Guy to Another has been written up by Mashable and Vulture.
As a Producer, James has helped write and produce distinct and engaging content for such brands as PayPal, Jack Daniels and Goat Tape. He has also produced comedic shorts for UCB Comedy and the 48 Hour Film Fest. The short pilot "Space Drifters" which James co-wrote, co-produced and acted in was an official selection in the 2015 New York Television Festival.
James is also an actor. You can catch him in What We Do In The Shadows on FX, Friends from College (Netflix), Isn't It Romantic (New Line Cinema) and in small roles here and there in other shows, movies, and national commercials. You can view a reel of his recent work right here. He has also a resume available if you want to click right here. If that's not enough, check out a bunch of the comedic shorts, sketches and commercials he's been in over the years right here.
As a veteran improviser and teacher at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre James has performed with The Law Firm, ASSSSCAT 3000, Strife, Harold Night and many other shows over the past decade. With the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company James has performed across the country as well as lead executive development workshops for major brands like JetBlue, Pfizer, KPMG, Google and many more.
